Based on the Essay ‘Dissonance and defensiveness: orienting affects in online feminist cultures,’ written by Akane Kana & Julia Coffey. This essay explores themes of how contemporary feminists are shaped by shared feelings and experiences within digital culture, which significantly influences what feminism means today. It
explores the idea that feelings serve as an “orienting device” (as proposed by Ahmed), guiding individuals in understanding their identities and relationships within a patriarchal society.
Considerations

I wanted to highlight the connection between the female aura and the colours that evoke a sense of divine femininity. Through this exploration, I used graphic design to represent the spirit, energy, and empowerment of feminism, capturing how colour and form can visually express strength, grace, and unity.

I focused on capturing key stylistic cues that visually represent the essence of the essay, while also using this project as an opportunity to further develop and refine my illustration skills.
